Mexican Independence Celebration of Los Cabos

Mexico's most significant national holiday, it begins the evening of September 15 with the President's cry (El Grito) of "Viva Mexico" from the balcony of the National Palace. Locals respond with calls of "Viva!" Fireworks, folk dancing and mariachi bands follow. The next day offers parades, speeches, family picnics and more. Event held in Cabo San Lucas.

Just north of Cabo San Lucas, the Rancho San Cristobal Nature Reserve is the laying site for endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles. Join in a program to transfer eggs to a protected nursery or release tiny hatchlings safely to the sea.
